Expected Outcomes and Requirements:  

Gateway Fiber is hiring a Technician Training and Quality Specialist to enhance the skills of our Advanced Fiber Optic Technicians and ensure adherence to our quality standards, in support of our goal of adding 500,000 homes and businesses in the next several years. The Technician Training and Quality Specialist is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:  

  • Develop and deliver training programs for Advanced Fiber Optic Technicians to improve their technical skills and customer service abilities. 

  • Mentor technicians on best practices in fiber installation, troubleshooting, and adherence to quality standards. 

  • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the team's understanding of fiber splicing, network configurations, and installation procedures. 

  • Monitor and evaluate technician performance through audits and inspections of installations and service calls. 

  • Ensure that all work meets Gateway's quality standards and aligns with company policies. 

  • Provide feedback and coaching to technicians based on performance evaluations and customer feedback. 

  • Oversee the completion of work orders and documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company processes. 

  • Maintain records of training sessions and performance evaluations for all technicians. 

  • Assist technicians with complex technical issues, providing guidance on advanced TCP/IP configurations and troubleshooting procedures. 

  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to enhance training materials and technical support. 

  • Work closely with dispatch and leadership teams to address issues that inhibit work completion and assist in finding solutions. 

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback from technicians and implementing necessary changes in training programs. 

What you’ll bring to the table:  

  • Strong background in fiber optic technology, including advanced knowledge of fiber splicing procedures and installation practices. 

  • Proven experience in training or mentoring technical teams, with the ability to communicate effectively. 

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. 

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. 

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship preferred. 

  • Valid Class D Driver’s License required. 

  • Flexibility to work in varying temperatures and conditions, and ability to traverse job sites safely.
