Expected Outcomes and Requirements:
Gateway Fiber is hiring an OSP Engineering Project Lead. The OSP Engineering Lead will support the Manager of Engineering in overseeing all aspects of Outside Plant (OSP) engineering, including design engineering, field engineering, permit drawings, and construction packages. The role will focus on optimizing operational efficiency, ensuring engineering quality, and driving continuous improvement in collaboration with cross-functional teams, in support of our goal of adding 500,000 homes and businesses in the next several years. The OSP Engineering Project Lead is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:
Assist the Manager of Engineering in managing and overseeing OSP engineering activities, including design, field engineering, permitting, and construction documentation.
Collaborate with Engineering leadership to enhance operational models and drive continuous improvements across the department and through cross-functional engagement.
Lead and manage multiple engineering programs, aiming to improve overall efficiency and successfully manage risks and dependencies from inception to completion.
Review and approve engineering designs, ensuring they meet established standards and requirements for quality.
Conduct regular quality reviews of existing engineering standards with the construction team and implement necessary revisions for improvement.
Partner with all project stakeholders to ensure that deliverables are completed on time and meet project requirements.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all aspects of OSP engineering, providing guidance and support to the team.
Facilitate planning sessions to define, prioritize, and align initiatives with the organization’s strategic goals.
Establish project objectives, analyze project proposals, and work with management to set realistic milestones.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Ideally experience with Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) design and knowledge of CresentLink software. Projects, capabilities, functional management, this role will affect within a department and with the larger organization.
Strong background in OSP engineering with experience in design, field operations, and permitting.
Proven ability to manage multiple engineering programs and lead cross-departmental initiatives.
Experience in conducting design reviews and enforcing engineering standards.
Knowledge of industry-standard engineering practices, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Excellent project management skills with the ability to set and achieve milestones while managing risks.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with diverse stakeholders.
Experience with FTTH design and CresentLink software is a plus.
